When you are scouting for wedding vendors, it's important to meet at least with a couple. For each group of suppliers, different features matter. For the photographer and videographer, I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable around them. This list of questions will help you find the perfect photographer/videographer for your wedding.
About their experience:
How long have you been in business?
How many weddings have you photographed / shot video for?
What's the worst thing that has happened to you during a wedding / bad experiences?
What do you love the most about wedding photography / videography?
Can we see your portfolio?
What kind of venues and locations are your favorites to photograph / shoot video?
Are you familiar with the venue we are geting married at?
About the costs:
What are your wedding packages and pricing?
How many hours are included in your package?
What type of deposit is required and what is the timeframe of the payments?
For how long will you reserve our wedding date at no costs?
About photography:
What type of equipment do you use?
What is the back up plan if your camera fails?
Do you use lighting or off camera flash at weddings?
How soon after the wedding will the pictures be ready? Can we receive a sneak peek a couple of days after the wedding?
Will you be our photographer? Are you coming alone or with an assistant?
How much editing do you normally do?
What is your style? (Moody, airy, colorful,...)
How many photos can we expect to receive?
Will there be a watermark on the pictures?
Do you make albums? What album styles are available?
About videography:
What type of equipment do you use?
What is the back up plan if your camera fails?
What is the lenght of the video we will receive?
Do you create a highlight video?
Will the video be posted online?
Will you be our videographer? Are you coming alone or with an assistant?
Do you shoot in standard definition or high definition?
What is the cost for extra copies?
How many cameras will be used?
What do you use for music in the final video?
What kind of lighting do you use at night?
How long after the wedding can we expect the final video?
Where will the camera(s) be during the ceremony?
Will you also record our vows?
These questions should help you figure out the best photographer and/or videographer for your big day! Photo and video are important ways for you to keep happy memories of your wedding day for the rest of your life, so make sure to choose a vendor you feel comfortable with.
